Healthy Minds & Healthy Bodies

Task One: Part Two

Sometimes it's really hard to make healthy food choices when you don't know much about what you are eating. If we had handy access to resources which could tell us a little more about our food, we would have more information and be able to make more informed, healthy choices.

So let's make that resource! We have all the knowledge we need at our fingertips, and by collaborating we are able to share ideas and information to come up with a time efficient, handy food resource.
Choose a partner. Look at the list displayed on the interactive whiteboard and as a class, decide who will research which foods. You and your partner will need to research one healthy and one unhealthy food item and report back to the class about these items. Find out all the information about it's
food value, through a variety of available resources, including information on the web, the school library, etc. Cover things like: location in the food pyramid; what makes it healthy or unhealthy; and, what would happen if you ate too much or too little of that food. Find as much information as you can and present your research to the class in a 3 Minute PowerPoint presentation. When all presentations are complete we will compile the information into one document, and save it in a shared drive where will have access to it for future use.

Add a post to the blog. Did you learn anything new about health and nutrition? Has your idea of food and nutrition changed as a result of learning about these food items?
